Wellness

Saunas are widespread and popular in Finland to this day. As they say, a sauna is a sacred place where everyday issues can be forgotten. This activity is about silent relaxation or peaceful, quiet discussions, but the Finnish are well aware of all the health benefits of saunas as well.

The sauna world of Eleven Ház is an oasis of tranquility, which provides a relaxing refuge for sauna lovers. Spiritual and physical refreshment is ensured by a Finnish sauna, a steam room, an infrared cabin, a bucket shower and an ice fountain.

Warm air invigorates our blood circulation, we start sweating, toxins are released from our body, our metabolic processes are triggered and the self-healing ability of our body is stimulated by heat. Moreover, due to the heat of saunas, endorphin is produced in the body that can attenuate the harmful effects of stress, improve our well-being and we will also sleep better after using a sauna. The combination of hot air and icy cooling has additional positive effects: the dilation of blood vessels followed by their tightening can condition blood circulation, regenerates blood vessels and the whole body and makes the connective tissue more flexible, firming and rejuvenating the skin.

No matter what type of sauna you use, the activity has many beneficial effects. However, it is worth to mention that its use is forbidden in case of fever or illness or after alcohol consumption. Moreover, it is also important to take care of sufficient rehydration afterwards. Sauna use is not recommended for people with circulatory issues, heart disease, hypotonia, hypertonia or epilepsy.

Finnish sauna
Our traditional Finnish sauna provides a classic sauna experience. The sauna is heated with an electronic stove which heats up the air to 90 °C (194 °F). Depending on the requirements, humidity can be increased by pouring onto the stones of the sauna stove some of the water mixed with essential oils that we prepare for our guests. High temperature is compensated by the body with intense sweating in order to keep its temperature balance. Sweat evaporation cools down the skin, and does not allow it to overheat. After the application of hot air, our body can be cooled down with cold water or ice. The same steps could be repeated as many times as we would like to. The effect of the sauna is therefore based on contrast bath principles.

Steam room
The main difference of steam rooms as compared to Finnish saunas is that a high humidity rate is more dominant in them whereas their temperature is lower. Sweating is triggered by a nearly 80 to 90% humidity rate, produced by a steam generator. Therefore, it is not required to have excessively high temperatures. The temperature of the cabin is only between 45 to 50 °C (113 to 122 °F). However, due to the high humidity rate, temperature seems to be much higher. Besides the pleasures it can provide, it is known to have healing benefits as well. Using the steam bath, asthma, rheumatism, hoarseness, muscle pains and blood circulation disorders can all be treated. It is also widely used in cosmetics, being highly advisable for sensitive skin.

Infrared cabin
When an infrared cabin is used, instead of the air of the cabin, infrared rays heat up the surface of the body, therefore, the temperature inside is only around 30 to 40 °C (86 to 104 °F). During use, the infrared rays penetrate the skin under its surface, heating it from inside out, stimulating blood circulation without increasing the heart rate. Hence, it does not put a strain on the body. By spending 30 minutes in the infrared sauna, our body can burn around 600 to 800 calories without making a physical activity as heat radiation can penetrate 3 times deeper than in case of simple, traditional saunas therefore it is much more efficient. In case of repeated use, it can reshape the body, break down fat cells, “rearrange” the muscles by the intense circulation of the lymph therefore it is a perfect addition to diet programs as well. By using the infrared cabin, the positive benefits of saunas can also be enjoyed by those who have some kind of a health problem. This should mean first of all those who have hypertension, varicose veins or silicone or other implants.

Ice fountain
Cooling, refreshing, invigorating effect. Stepping out of the sauna, the cooling effect of ice chips can be felt immediately, causing a pleasant tingling sensation on the skin, improving blood circulation and in addition to all that, making the skin more beautiful. It is a real treat!

Massage
A pleasant massage is not only good for our soul, but it also relaxes tight, cramped muscles, eliminates pain and complements well all kind of physical exercises. A massage means first of all the treatment of soft tissues in the body in order to relieve pain, musculoskeletal symptoms and muscle spasms, but it also plays an important role in fighting stress and in improving health condition in general. A massage can improve blood supply of surface and deeper tissues of the body. The improved blood supply can greatly facilitate oxygen and nutrient supply of the cells. Moreover, touch and the increased blood circulation rate also stimulate the functioning of the lymphatic system causing deposited slag and toxins to be removed more effectively from the body.
